Dear user, thank you for using the User Magic for Jira app.
With this app you can easily invite and create new users to your Jira Site and assign them exactly to the groups they need to access your Atlassian Products and Projects.

Inviting Users

As the app is enabled for your project and issue type, open the app by clicking on the app icon in the issue view.

Please remember that you need to be assigned the Show App History or Invite User Functionality Permission on the App configurations to use the App on the Issue View.

Invite new user

Info

As you want to invite a new jira cloud user, just insert the e-mail address of the new user (e.g. a new employee or a collegue that just wants to join you on Jira Cloud) and a reference user. Optionally, you can select the Invite without groupsoption.

Please notice, that for security reasons, the org-admins group cannot be assigned to a user on the issue view’s app UI. To do so, please switch to the backend Invite user tab of the app.

By clicking the Invite user button, the new user will be created and assigned to the selected groups. After a short animation, the app UI will remain in this state for the used issue, so you have a documentation on what was done by which user. As you switch back to the issue another time you will again see this picture.

âť— This action is only available once for every issue. If you want to use the feature again, you have to do it on a seperate issue or switch to the apps backend configuration and select Invite Useruser, where you can use the same feature as often as you like.

Assign groups to existing user

As you want to assign groups to an already existing jira cloud user, just insert the e-mail address of the user (e.g. a collegue that should get enhanced access) and a reference user.

Please notice, that for security reasons, the org-admins group cannot be assigned to a user with the issue view’s app UI. To do so, please switch to the backend Invite user tab of the app.

Connected Jira Fields

In the app configuration your Jira admin can define, which customfields custom fields should be used to pre-fill the app fields. This function improves your onboarding workflow while enhancing the apps way to be integrated in your Jira site.

App Fields

Email of new user

Please enter the email address of your existing or to-be Jira Cloud user in this field.âť—If this user already exsists you will get an error message and you will not be able to invite the user.

Reference user

Please search and select the correct Jira user you want to use as a reference.

As you select the Reference user, you will see a list of all groups he is a part of, which you can deselect separately.
